  1. This is what my mom had to say but dial-up was having a hard time posting so she emailed me.....

Preparing for adolescence...That one has been around for a long time. It's one that gives you info to talk through with your child as they are entering adolescence. Better to do before they are actually teens, so I would say ages 9 or 10. 11 at the latest. Covers peer pressure, emotions, sex, etc. I did read it through with you guys, one on one, but then they came out with the CDs so that would be better. Your church library probably has the CDs because this is a classic. A lot of families do it where the same sex parent takes the child on a weekend get-away where they listen to the CDs and talk about them...kind of a rite of passage. For instance could connect it with the 10 yr old b'day time period. Or spread them out and do one a week in the evening. Make it something fun like get to stay up an hour later and have a treat while listening and talking. Definitely check the book out and read it over. Do something to celebrate when finished, even if it is a raise in allowance or something. If you don't do it formally, it would at least put in your mind the types of things you need to talk over with your child before puberty hits, which seems to be getting earlier and earlier.
